Hiroshige

Hiroshige ist einer der wichtigsten Künstler des japanischen Holzschnitts und gilt als Meister des "Ukiyo-e", der "Bilder der schwebenden Welt". Seine stimmungsvollen Illustrationen zeigen vor allem Landschaften und Szenen aus der Hauptstadt Edo, dem heutigen Tokio. Etwa 200 Bilder lassen den Betrachter in die Welt des Japan des neunzehnten Jahrhunderts eintauchen.

Hiroshige is one of the most important artists of the Japanese woodblock print and is considered a master of “ukiyo-e”, the “pictures of the floating world”. His evocative illustrations show mainly landscapes and scenes from the capital Edo, today`s Tokyo. About 200 images immerse the viewer in the world of nineteenth-century Japan
